Shifts: opening, closing, X and Z reports
So the cash adds up at the end of the day.
- 1At the start of the day, Open shift — enter the float already in the drawer.
- 2Sales are counted through the day on their own.
- 3At any point an X report shows what should be there now and changes nothing.
- 4At the end of the day, Close shift — count the drawer and enter what you found.
- 5The Z report comes back in the closing response — print it.
⚠The product is the difference, not the total. The system works out what is expected and freezes it, you enter what you counted, and if they differ a reason is required. A discrepancy without one is not saved.
The Z report has a separate «of which debts repaid» line. Money for yesterday's debt paid today lands in today's drawer while the sale was yesterday's — without that line it would be a difference nobody could explain.
⚠A branch has one open shift. A second one is refused: with two open, «how much should be in the drawer» has no answer.
